Pablo Riesgo
Pablo Riesgo is a filmmaker originally from Spain, who grew up a nomad migrant from the age of 12, moving countries every three to four years until he landed in Los Angeles, to pursue his dream in filmmaking. Given his upbringing, his stories explore the complexities of the immigrant experience and mental health, on canvases that go from the personal to larger sci-fi worlds.
He graduated with an MFA in directing from the American Film Institute in 2023, where he was selected to direct the pilot episode for the inaugural AFI Television initiative in 2022 for the show UNFINISHED BUSINESS. He shot his debut feature film MARCO POLO in 2022, a film that explores the imbalances caused to a nomadic family who is spending some time back home.
In 2021, his short film TIRO DOMINICAL, a film about three Spaniards setting foot for the first time in the US in the 70s, played in over twenty film festivals worldwide and received best comedy short award at the 34th Fort Lauderdale International Film Festival, and was later distributed through Omeleto. Collaboration is everything to him, and he is currently developing projects with colleagues in Spain, USA and Mexico.
